The Institute for Retired Professionals is a membership association open to all retired and semi-retired people older than 55. The only requirement for joining is an intellectual curiosity. Members participate in broadly based monthly symposia and have the privilege of auditing one undergraduate course selected from a wide range of courses from the University College catalogue. These courses, subject to availability, cover a wide range of subjects, and generally meet once a week from 7 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. (A limited number of courses are available during the day.) The Albert M. Loch Scholarship for the Institute for Retired Professionals offers members the opportunity to support a deserving University College student each semester. During the academic year, monthly symposia take place in various locations on campus. Most often, symposia speakers are members of the Fairfield University faculty. Important collateral aspects of the symposia are the broadening of acquaintances in a community peer group and the opportunity to exchange viewpoints among a highly diversified group of professionals. Open Registration Day will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2010 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at University College, Room 107. All IRP registrations and course selections must be received by January 15, 2010. There will be a $10 drop/add fee for each course change after initial registration. Please phone (203) 254-4110 for a brochure and further information.
